I rest easy just by watching your face
Going through the change of recognition
And I think
How the best faces are the ones
That at first look like vacant, smooth ovals
Hovering over inconsequential bodies
Like a figure hastily drawn onto a page
Like a figure hastily drawn onto a page
Features so familiar, a visage perfect for crime
That then, by looking at us, the more superficially mercurial matter of the universe,
Turn into animated facets too beautiful to disregard anymore
And this is the face that tells me
Not to waste a wish on a person
But I cannot help
And waste one on you
